Only 15 miles from Newcastle, Matfen Hall is an impressive 19th century mansion house featuring a full height Gothic hall, grand staircase, a towering arched stained glass window, open fireplaces and beautifully manicured lawns set in the idyllic Northumberland countryside.
There are further photo opportunities in the grounds around Matfen both front back and side. The mixture of architecture and foliage allow for wonderful wedding photography. The inner courtyard is also perfect for evening shots.
The recently redecorated bedroom 6 is an ideal choice for Bridal preparation photographs. Flooded with natural light, this spacious room is perfect for shots of the girls enjoying a glass of Prosecco while getting ready for the day ahead and photos of the wedding dress and other details such as flowers, shoes and gifts etc.
If you decide to hold your ceremony in The Great Hall I don’t think there is a venue with a more grand entrance for the Bride down the staircase to meet the Groom, family and guests. With two photographers this large vaulted space with its magnificent stained glass window allows us to photograph the ceremony from several vantage points.
We aim to take as many natural, candid shots as possible during the day to tell the story of your wedding day. Our expertise and experience means we know where to be at the right time to get the best shots without being obtrusive. There are times however when you might need a little help and direction and we are always on hand to guide you through the day. Our friendly yet professional approach ensures that you and guests feel at ease in front of the camera.
We will continue to capture those un-posed shots while everyone enjoys drinks and canapes following the ceremony whether this is inside the hall in the beautiful grounds at Matfen. This is also an opportunity for some group shots and Bridal Party shots at the rear of the hall or in the Dutch gardens to the side. The staircase in the Great Hall is the perfect setting for Bride and Groom portraits as well as the doorway to the rear and courtyard behind the stained glass window. With permission from Matfen we can have a little walk down to the bridge which spans the river on the golf course. This is fantastic shot with Matfen Hall in the background.
