Newton Hall Wedding Of Amy & Gordon

Amy & Gordon's Garden Wedding At Newton Hall

A Garden Ceremony And A Stroll On The Beach

Amy and Gordon wanted a wedding location near the beach and with the option to have an outdoor wedding ceremony if the weather allowed.  A Newton Hall wedding in Northumberland with the beautiful isolated beach nearby was the perfect choice and a warm summers day meant their dream wedding was coming together as planned. The incredible light at the end of the day allowed us to top off an amazing celebration with some  stunning shots of the couple as the sun began to set.

Their beloved dog, Ted accompanying Amy during the ceremony and a surprise performance by The Silver Service Wedding Singers were one of many personal touches which helped make their wedding day one to remember.

Why did you choose your venue? We fell in love with it as soon as we saw it! We had made a list of everything we wanted from a venue, everything we didn’t want, & things we were willing to compromise on. With Newton Hall there was no compromise- it ended up being the first & last venue we went to see. We knew we wanted an entire venue to ourselves, as opposed to something like a hotel where there would be lots of wandering eyes from passers-by! Newton Hall has fantastic outdoor ceremony options- something I was trying not to get my hopes up for knowing what British weather can be like! But fortunately the indoor options are just as beautiful. We wanted a location near the beach as that is where we spend lots of our time walking our dog Teddy. We also knew we needed to have Teddy there to be a part of our special day, & Newton Hall is completely dog friendly! The staff are also incredible, every time we went to visit everyone was so lovely & friendly & that really helped to put us at ease.

Did you have a theme? What was the inspiration for your wedding? Flowers! Flowers everywhere! I dread to think how much I spent on bridal magazines while we were planning our big day, desperately searching for inspiration. Neither me or Gordon have ever been so ‘obsessed’ with anything that we wanted to incorporate it into our big day (Harry Potter seems to be a big one at the moment, & lots of girls want a big Disney themed wedding!) I’ve always loved flowers, they are so beautiful & they always make me so happy when I receive them. I think a lot of my inspiration came from American weddings on Instagram & Pinterest- lots of florals, outdoor ceremonies with an overall very glam appearance.

What was your wedding colour scheme? Pastels- Ivory, blush pink, peach & a pop of pale blue

Tell us about your dress and grooms wear: My dress was Stella York style 6496 from The Wedding Dress Company in Corbridge. I had no idea what I wanted for my dress when we went shopping, but I somehow managed to find ‘the one’. Gordon wore his RAF number 1s for the ceremony & then changed to a kilt in his Mother’s family tartan (modern Gunn) for the evening reception.

Who did your hair and makeup? The incredibly talented Marta Make up (The Costa Chic) on make up & Carly Taylor on hair.

Who did your flowers and what did you chose? Made Simply Perfect did all of the event styling including the flowers. I knew I wanted roses, peonies, hydrangeas & ranunculus. I was getting so stressed about the flowers & colours as I wanted them to be such a big part of the day. The team knew my colour scheme & preferred flowers, the only other briefing they got was that I wanted a massive compact bouquet! Fortunately the team at Made Simply Perfect took control & delivered more than I ever could have dreamed of- everything literally was perfect.

What was your favourite part of the day? It’s so hard to pick a single favourite part, the whole day was a complete whirlwind & we loved every minute, it just went far too quickly! Obviously the ceremony was the most important part, we loved making that personal to us & being able to get married outside was just a dream come true for me! We also both really enjoyed the singing waiters, I was the only one who knew about them so I thoroughly enjoyed seeing everyone run to the waiters aid as he ‘fell ‘ while I was giggling away (everyone thought I was a right cow!) Then seeing all of our guests singing & dancing around, it was so much fun, it really lifted the atmosphere & set a great tone for the rest of the evening.

What is your top tip for another Bride and Groom? Just do you! Don’t worry about trying to please everyone, or anyone for that matter! Make sure you make the day what you want it to be, have fun & enjoy it! & make sure you take a few minutes out of the day to sit together & take it all in as it flies by so fast.

How did we do? You guys were AMAZING! We barely noticed you were there for most of it, you were so good at blending in & capturing the natural shots we had hoped for. You were so friendly & easy to get on with too, we had so much fun with you guys & it really helped us to relax & just be ourselves. The photos we have seen online are incredible, you have captured so many special moments that we will treasure forever.

Have you any other comments? We were recommended yourselves by our videographer & we are so glad we found you. As soon as we saw your photos we knew we wanted to have you photograph our special day. You have been so helpful from our very first email enquiry & we can’t thank you enough for our amazing photos.
